Description

Tancrey is an L-shaped building with origins in the early 17th century, located on Fordwich Road in Fordwich. The south wing is of early 17th-century origin, originally timber-framed but subsequently restored and refaced with roughcast on the ground floor and tile hanging above. A dragon beam projects on the first floor. The roof is tiled, with tall brick stacks grouped together. The wing has two storeys and three casement windows. The east wing dates from approximately 1739 and is constructed in brick, featuring three dormers within a tiled half-hipped roof. This section has three windows with hung sashes and glazing bars, with two bow windows on the ground floor. A pedimented doorway is also present. The building is named after the Tancrey family, who once owned a house on the site.
