Description
Pilgrim's Entry, also known as the Pentise, is a medieval covered walkway that connects to Number 29 in the Cathedral Precincts. This structure dates back to the 15th century and served as a passage for pilgrims heading to their lodgings after visiting the Shrine of St Thomas a' Becket. It is a single-storey building constructed from flint and ashlar, featuring a roof supported by tie-beams on braces and scissor braces, with a tiled covering. The ends are timber framed and made of brick. This entry is part of a group that includes Nos 20 to 29A, the wall in the garden of No 29, the wall and gatepiers between Nos 28 and 29, the gateway from Green Court, and the adjoining building to the left, which houses the King's School Library and a Norman staircase.
