Description

Maynard and Cotton’s Hospital consists of Nos. 1, 2, 5 and 6 Hospital Lane. Originally founded in 1317 by John Maynard to support elderly residents, the building underwent alterations in 1617 and 1708, but the largely visible structure dates to the 19th century. It is a single-storey brick building with a tiled roof, incorporating one Dutch gable. The eaves are defined by a modillion cornice. Each property features a single casement window. The simple doorcases have hoods, brackets, and wooden doors. Nos. 1, 2, 5 & 6 form a group of buildings with group value.
