Description

This is the only surviving medieval watermill within the city. The ground floor retains early 13th-century stonework and flintwork, and the roof is of medieval origin, but the structure was largely rebuilt in the early 19th century. The watermill bridges the River Stour, and is four storeys high, with weatherboarded cladding. The second floor projects outward on brackets, and features five to six pivoting sash windows. It is set upon brick and stone piers, with a wooden railing. The end elevation displays hoists. The watermill forms a group with Lesser Knowlesthorpe, Nos 3 and 4.
