Description
St Augustine's College was built between 1845 and 1848 by William Butterfield. The college is arranged around a courtyard and features 2 to 3 storeys constructed of knapped flint with stone window dressings and quoins. The roof is tiled and has large flint and stone chimney stacks. In the center of the courtyard, there is a Victorian drinking fountain made of ragstone, which includes a cross, spire, and quatrefoil ornaments. The college is part of a group that includes No 1, the wall adjoining No 1 to the right, a water pump opposite No 1, No 2, Nos 4 to 18 (even), the Hall, the Chapel, The Cemetery Gateway, The Great Gateway, and the wall in front of St Augustine's.
