Description

Number 20 King Street is an early 17th-century building, formerly a public house. It was refaced in the 18th century and more recently, replicating the earlier appearance. The building is two storeys and has an attic, constructed of red brick with a tiled roof, featuring two hipped dormers. Features include an eaves cornice and a stringcourse. Five sash windows retain their original glazing bars. A round-headed window is centrally placed on the first floor. The doorcase has a projecting cornice and pilasters, a semi-circular fanlight, and a six-panelled door. The rear elevation has a gable and is partially tile-hung. Number 20 is part of a group with numbers 16 to 22, the garden to number 20, St Alphage Church Hall, outbuildings, railings, and a post and wall associated with St Alphege Church Hall.
