Description
Cotterell Court is a 15th-century timber-framed building of modified Wealden type, which was restored in the 20th century. Originally designed as an open hall, it now stands at two storeys. The building features close-studded timbers with plaster infilling, and the first floor of the south-westernmost window bay extends over the ends of the floor joists and is supported by brackets. There is a flint plinth at the base, while the rest of the front has wide overhanging eaves that are also supported by brackets. The roof is steeply pitched and hipped, covered with tiles. On the left side, there is a doorcase adorned with a floral pattern in the spandrels. The rear of the building has 20th-century extensions, and there is a distinctive brick chimneystack with circular chimney posts.
