Description
Nos 6 to 12 High Street is a timber-framed building dating from the 16th century or earlier, which has been refaced with painted brick. It stands two storeys high with attics and features a hipped tiled roof at the west end, along with one hipped dormer. The building has a moulded wooden eaves cornice and four casement windows. Most of the shop windows are modern, except for No 10, which retains an 18th-century shop window with its glazing bars intact, although it is no longer used as a shop. The structure extends back into two long parallel wings where the original timber-framing with close-studding and plaster infilling is visible, and the gable ends overhang. In front of the building, there is contemporary paving made of Bethersden marble that forms a footpath extending southeast for about 12 yards.
