Description

The Red Lion Inn is a timber-framed building dating from the 16th century or earlier, which was refaced in the 18th century with painted brick. It stands two storeys tall and features a parapet with a central pediment and a hipped tiled roof. The inn has four casement windows and two doorcases with flat hoods above. The eastern doorcase includes a door with six fielded panels. An early 19th-century addition extends from the ground floor at the west corner. One of the fireplace lintels inside the building is dated 1586. In front of the inn, there is contemporary paving made of Bethersden marble that forms a footpath extending approximately 12 yards to the southeast.
