Description
West House is a 16th century or earlier timber-framed building located on the north side of Biddenden High Street. The ground floor shows traces of timber framing with plaster infilling, but it has been largely refaced in painted brick. The upper floor is tile hung and features a wide overhang supported by a bressummer and brackets, with a bellcast above. The building has two storeys and a tiled roof, along with a moulded wooden eaves cornice. There are three sash windows with intact vertical glazing bars and two small bays on the ground floor. The entrance features a four-centred wooden doorway with carved spandrels and a low rectangular fanlight above. In front of the building, there is contemporary paving made of Bethersden marble that forms a footpath extending southeast for about 12 yards.
