Description

Pittlesden Gatehouse is a timber-framed cottage dating from 1715, believed to be the only surviving gatehouse of three that belonged to a demolished 14th-century mansion. The building features plaster infilling and has an overhanging west end supported by the protruding ends of the floor joists and curved brackets. It is two storeys high with a half hipped roof and includes two casement windows. The interior retains its original divisions of solar, hall, and service areas. The gatehouse is part of a group that includes Nos 79 to 117 (odd) on High Street.
