Description
Vesperhawk House, formerly known as Vestpherhawk Farmhouse, dates from around 1490 and is a T-shaped timber-framed building. The north front and the ground floor of the west front feature close-studded construction with plaster infilling. The south front has been refaced; the ground floor is finished with stucco and weatherboarding, while the upper part is tiled. The first floor of the north and east fronts extends outward on the ends of the floor joists and brackets, but the ground floor of the south front has been underbuilt. The building has a hipped tiled roof with sprocket eaves cornice and includes five casement windows. Notably, the west front has distinctive windows with 4-centred heads and traces of grooves for shutters, along with a 4-centred wooden doorway featuring spandrels that contain a double petalled rose, symbolizing the York and Lancaster connection, and the dragon of Cadwallader, which is associated with the family of Henry VII's mother.
