Description
Church Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 15th century, with extensions and alterations made in the mid-16th century. It features a timber frame and is tile hung on a ragstone base, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building likely originated as a Wealden hall house, with one end rebuilt and extended in the 16th century, which included the ceiling-in of the hall. It stands two storeys high on a plinth, showcasing a continuous jetty at three levels. The roof is hipped with gablets that step down to the right, leading to a hipped roof on the extensions. There are stacks located at the centre right and a projecting, offset stack at the end right. The house has three wooden casements on both the first and ground floors, with the leftmost ground floor window featuring a lattice-work screen, possibly for a dairy. A half-glazed door is located to the centre left, while a panelled and glazed door is found to the centre right. The right return of the building includes a separate cross-wing with an outshot.
