Description

The Cloth Hall is a 15th-century timber-framed building originally with close-studded walls and plaster infilling. The ground floor has been partially rebuilt in red brick, and the north-west end of the first floor oversails on projecting floor joists and brackets. The roof is tiled. The windows are casement windows with diamond-paned or small square leaded glass. A blocked 4-centred wooden doorway is present, with an iron-studded door and a peep-hole to the south-east. The building is two storeys high with five windows. A brick chimney breast has offsets on the south-east wall. The north-west front features a dragon post and a blocked double window. A loft door in the centre of the first floor's overhanging section is accessed by an outside ladder. Above this is another loft door with a projecting hip from which a hoist with a heavy iron hook is suspended. A 16th-century L-shaped addition is located at the north-west corner. The roof is a crown post roof.
