Description
The Parish Church of All Saints is a Grade I listed building located on Biddenden High Street. The church features a chancel with north and south chapels, a small mortuary chapel in the north-east corner, a nave with aisles, a south porch, and a west tower. The chancel and nave date from the early 13th century, while the south aisle and porch were added in the late 13th century. The north aisle was constructed in the early 14th century, and the north and south chapels, along with the west tower, were built in the 15th century. The mortuary chapel, which contains the tomb of Sir Edward Hendon, was added after his death in 1662. Inside, there is a three-bay crown post roof in the nave, a piscina and sedilia from around 1300, and a fine 16th-century ceiling in the north aisle. The church also has a 13th-century font and a collection of brasses. The graveyard features several chest tombs and 18th-century headstones adorned with skull or cherub motifs.
