Description

The George Inn is an 18th-century building located on Smarden Road in Egerton. It features an L-shaped southeast front with two storeys, which is faced with weatherboarding and topped by a tiled roof with a central gable. The front has three windows, including both casement windows and sashes, all of which retain their glazing bars. There is a porch situated in the angle of the 'L'. The rear wing of the inn dates from the 17th century or earlier and is timber-framed, with a later addition on its west side that has a sloping slate roof. In front of this elevation, there is a surface of stone setts.
