Description
Church Cottages is a house, originally a pair of cottages, dating from the 16th century and clad in the 18th century. It features a timber frame covered with red brick on ragstone, with tile hanging on the first floor and a plain tiled roof. The building has three framed bays and a fire bay lobby entry plan, likely indicating it was originally a hall house. It stands two storeys high on a plinth, with a hipped roof that has gablets and stacks positioned to the centre left, projecting at the left and right ends. There are two three-light wooden casement windows and one central two-light wooden casement window on each floor. The doors, which are boarded, are located to the centre right and centre left, each with a flat hood supported by brackets. At the rear, there is a catslide outshot. Inside, the full frame is visible, and there are 18th-century strap-hinge doors.
