Description

Church House is a house dating from 1801, with a rear wing likely of 18th century or earlier origin. The front of the house is rendered, with a slate roof, while the rear wing is a combination of painted brick and tile hanging, topped with a plain tiled roof. The main block stands two storeys high on a plinth, which incorporates some rubble at its base, and features a projecting plat band. It has a wide, hipped roof with stacks at the rear, and a regular arrangement of glazing bar sashes on the first floor, and tripartite sashes in two projecting early 20th-century bays on the ground floor. The central entrance features a six-panel door with a semi-circular fanlight, leading to a fine trellised porch with intricate chinoiserie detailing and a tented lead roof, approached by moulded steps. The rear wing, set at a right angle, is two storeys high with a hipped roof, leaded wooden casements, and a glazing bar sash window. It has a catslide outshot at the rear.
