Description
The Former Castle Hotel, dating from the 18th century, is a three-storey building that is pebble-dashed and now colour washed. It features a hipped tiled roof and has two double sash windows on each elevation. The early 19th-century pub front includes pilasters, a bracket, and an arched doorcase with a keystone. On the rear elevation, there is a doorcase with a cornice, moulded architrave, and a six flush panelled door, with the top two panels cut away and glazed. The building is part of a group with Nos 1 to 15 (odd) Castle Street and Nos 1 to 7 (odd) New Street, which are of local interest.
