Description

The Old Rectory is a house dating back to the 16th century, significantly altered and extended in the mid-19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame, now covered with roughcast plaster and tile hanging, with a later red brick extension. The roof is tiled. The house has two main floors and a basement, with an attic in the return wing. Chimneys are located on the left side and at the rear, right side. The upper floor has two cross windows, while the ground floor has four windows, along with a basement opening on the right. The front door is made up of six panels, with the top two panels glazed, and is set within a flat-roofed, moulded porch. The right return wing has a hipped roof, featuring two hipped dormers, and wooden casement windows. A 19th-century enlargement incorporated materials taken from Elmsted Vicarage.
