Description

Dane Street House is an 18th-century house located on the east side of Dane Street in Chilham. The main part of the house has a red brick facade with a plain tile roof. It is two storeys and an attic, built on a rendered plinth, with stucco quoins on the right-hand side. It features a bracket eaves cornice and a hipped roof with two dormers and a central chimney stack. The windows are irregularly placed, with 2 glazing bar sashes and shutters with gauged heads on the first floor. The ground floor has one two-light "Gothic" traceried window, one 20th-century three-light window, and one glazing bar sash. A 20th-century glazed door is set within a flat-roofed porch supported by Ionic pilasters and columns.

To the left of the main house is a two-storey red brick wing with an attic, two hipped dormers, and irregularly placed glazing bar sashes. A 19th-century plank door is located within a gabled dormer at the head of a flight of steps. The right-hand front is faced with channelled stucco and has two storeys, a hipped roof with two dormers, and stacks located on the left and right. A conservatory has been added to the ground floor.
