Description
The garden walls to the west and north-west of Newhouse date from the early to mid-18th century and into the 19th century. They are constructed of red brick in English bond on a ragstone base, with extensions made of ragstone and red brick in Flemish bond. The north-west section of the wall stands about 8 feet high and features a projecting ragstone plinth and coping. This section runs approximately 30 meters along the road, returning 30 meters to the east and then again to the south. To the south, the wall extends along the roadside with a Flemish bond brick wall leading to the coach house gates. This section is connected to Newhouse by two 19th-century ragstone walls, each about 3 feet high, which create a garden terrace. At the southern end of the roadside length, there are gate piers that rise about 10 feet high, along with short quadrant walls.
