Description

Laurel Tree House, formerly an almshouse, dates to the 19th century. A plaque indicates it was given in 1890 "The Gift of George Hobst and Harriet Mary Lake to the poor of Kennington." The building is timber-framed and of two storeys, with a refronted plaster facade that retains traces of an overhanging upper storey. It has an old tiled roof, and one sash window with intact glazing bars. The rear part of the building is partly tile-hung. It forms a group with Tile Cottage, Tutt's Cottage, and numbers 46, 56 to 60 (even), 66 and 68. Tile Cottage, Tutt's Cottage, and number 46 are of local interest.
