Description
Borough Farm House is a farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It dates from the 18th century and early 19th century. The building is constructed of colourwashed brick, with some flint and brick dressings, and features a plain tiled roof with brick stacks. The structure is L-shaped, with a mid-18th century house and an early 19th century parallel range attached to the front. It is two storeys high and stands on a plinth, with a five-window range.
The central entrance features a 6-panel door, four of which are glazed, and is topped by a fanlight. This is sheltered by a 20th-century aluminium and glass porch, which has replaced an altered Ionic porch. On either side of the door are two 16-pane sash windows with Dutch arches. Above, in the centre and end bays, are 12-light sash windows topped by an offset and toothed cornice. There is also a smaller blocked opening to the right of centre. The roof has a steep pitch and a hipped design, with a free-standing stack on the right hip supported by an iron tie from the ridge. In front of the house, there is a large umbrella-shaped Holly tree.
