Description

The Old Market House, located on the south side of High Street, was originally built in 1833 and dated 1857, with a reconstruction completed in 1958. This single-storey building features a classical design characterized by engaged Doric columns and an entablature made of stone. The south and west fronts display Doric columns in antis. The brick walls and windows between the columns are modern infill, and there is a modern first floor. The Old Market House is part of a group that includes the Butter Cross and Nos 25 to 50 (consecutive).
