Description
Great Funtley Farmhouse is a late-medieval timber-framed house that features 17th-century alterations, minor recladding, and elements from the early 19th century. The building has an exposed frame and is jettied along the long southeast elevation, supported by brackets in each bay. The east corner retains close-studding, while the first floor shows some wider spacing, with painted brick infill, including some herring-bone patterns. Part of the house has been reclad in painted brick using Flemish Garden Wall bond. The prominent tile roof includes a catslide at the rear, a boarded gable at the east end, and a hip at the west end, with low eaves above an outshot. There are some 20th-century recessed dormers and a massive tapered stack on the west side. The southeast front elevation consists of four bays and two storeys, with a window in each bay. The windows are casements, and there are two old doorways with plain frames and boarded doors.
