Description
Waterside Cottages, now divided into four dwellings, dates to the early 17th and 18th centuries. The original structure is timber-framed with brick infill, although the ground floor between the posts was rebuilt in brick. A brick bay was added, and a wing was built to the right in the 18th century. The central bay is larger, originally with a baffle entry door in the 17th century building, now concealed by a 20th-century tiled, weatherboarded porch. Each side of the central bay has a doorway, one with a similar porch and the other with a 19th-century timber porch. Ground floor windows are mainly 2-light casements, with some 19th-century 2-light casements. Above are six further 2-light casements. The left 18th-century bay features a stable-type door and a 2-light, camber-headed casement. Above this is a 4-light casement, and a small staircase window is located near the end. The roof is hipped at both ends, with a wide hip to the left over the 18th-century bay. A large 18th-century brick stack with multiple flues is centrally positioned, and a 20th-century stack is on the left hip. Extensions project to the rear of the 17th-century building and to the inner side of the 18th-century wing.
