Description
Laundry Cottage and Sun Cottage is a house that was formerly known as the Cricketers Arms Public House. It dates from the 17th and 18th centuries and has been converted into two dwellings. The building features painted brickwork and a tile roof. It is two stories high and consists of several parts, with the original core being timber-framed and later additions on the east side.
On the south elevation, there are windows arranged in a 1.4.1 pattern. The junction between the two parts of the building is highlighted by a projecting two-storey wing that ends in an angular bay, featuring 1.2.1 sash windows on each floor, separated by a boarded apron. The west side has slate hanging on the upper floor, an open porch with a tile roof, sash windows, and a half-glazed door set in a solid frame. The taller east side has coupled sash windows under cambered arches and a similar plain door. At the rear, there are single-storey extensions that shelter the back wall of the old block, which has exposed timber framing with brick nogging. The tile roofing is at different levels, with a half-hipped section above the old block and brick dentil eaves in parts.
