Description

This is a row of houses located on Chesil Street, dating primarily to the 18th and early 19th centuries. Number 44 is an earlier timber-frame structure. The houses are constructed of brick, with numbers 48, 50 and 52 painted. They have clay plain tile roofs. The houses are two storeys high and have one, two, or three windows each. Most windows are two- or three-light casements, with some sash windows. Doorcases with small canopies are found at numbers 44 and 46. Number 44 includes a timber-frame wing at the rear. Although the interiors were not inspected, number 44 is reportedly home to an earlier clasped-purlin roof structure.
