Description

Lockerley Mill, originally a mill and later converted into a house, was built in the mid-18th century and altered around 1970. The building is constructed of brick with an old plain tile roof. It is two storeys and an attic, consisting of three wide bays with a low, thick 20th-century link bay attached to the altered offices. A six-panel door is located on the right-hand side of the left bay, sheltered by a flat hood. Each side has a two-light segmental-head casement with leaded glass, with a single-light or two-light leaded casement above. The right bay incorporates a 20th-century garage, with a loft door above, now a two-light leaded casement in the top half and a two-light leaded casement to the right. Above, on the roof, is a weatherboarded lucam, now featuring a small two-light casement. Above the other bays are high-set two-light casements within plastered gabled dormers. A ridge stack is situated between the right two bays. A millstream runs under the centre bay, and in front of the building is a brick single-arch bridge with a parapet wall, which continues as a wall in front of the left bay. Internally, some original mill gear remains, encased in cast concrete.
