Description
Dean Gate House is a house built around the 1830s, with an earlier section dating back to the 18th century or earlier. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a Welsh slate roof with deep eaves and verges at the gable ends, along with brick stacks at the gable ends. The house has a double-depth plan that includes two front rooms and a central entrance with a staircase. There is a 2-storey outshut at the rear, which may have been added in the 19th century.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window south front. The windows on the ground floor have been replaced by casements, while the upper floor features 9-pane sash windows with flat rubbed brick arches. The central doorway is adorned with a wooden lattice porch and a partly glazed flush-panel door. At the rear, there are casement windows with glazing bars. The lower, one-storey-and-attic range at the east end is made of brick and showcases an exposed tie-beam truss on the gable end. Inside, the staircase has stick balusters and a turned newel.
