Description
Ivydene is a cottage with an attached outbuilding, dating from the early 18th century and altered over time. The cottage features rendered cob on a brick plinth with timber-framed gables, while the outbuilding is timber-framed with weather-board cladding. It has a thatched roof and is one storey high with an attic, consisting of two bays, with the one-bay outbuilding attached at the right end.
On the front (north) elevation, there is an exposed wall post with a brace to the eaves at the right corner. The entrance includes a board door set in a 20th-century pent porch with a part-glazed door and a Welsh slate roof. To the left, there is a 4-pane casement window, and to the right, a 2-light, small-pane, metal casement window, with a 2-light, diamond-leaded casement window above it, positioned above the eaves. The roof is half-hipped on the left side and hipped on the right, extending over the attached outbuilding. A brick stack is located at the right end.
The rear features a gabled porch with a board door and side-lights next to the right bay, a 4-pane casement window to the right, and a 2-light small-pane casement window to the left. There is a strap-hinged board door leading to the outbuilding. The left return has three raked buttresses, square-panelled timber-framing in the gable, and a 4-pane window.
Inside, there is a spine beam with a broad chamfer, ledged and boarded doors, and a 19th-century fireplace with a range and a stair cupboard beside it.
