Description
No. 37 Weyhill Road is a former lodge to Rockwood House, now a private house, dating from the early to mid 19th century. The building features rendered brickwork, brick stacks, and a slate roof. It has a symmetrical central stair plan with a single depth layout leading to rear eaves stacks.
On the road side, there is a blank recess with a 4-centred arch at the first floor, situated above a 2-light casement window with glazing bars and interlaced 4-centred heads in a 4-centred arch. The entrance front, which faces Rockwood House (not included), has two similar windows at each level and a central panelled door beneath a 'tent' hood supported by trellis cheeks. To the left, there is a short section of a swept down wing wall with a 20th-century casement window. At the back, there are two single light windows on each floor and two large brick earex stacks. The building has a low-pitched hipped roof with box eaves. This lodge is an unspoilt example of its type, complemented by No. 33 to the east (not included).
