Description
This is a ruined domestic building, an attached wall, and a cartshed located 20 meters northeast of the Manor House at Rockbourne Manor Farm. The ruin dates back to the 16th century, the wall to the 17th century, and the cartshed to the 18th century. The ruin and wall are constructed from rubble flint and stone, with some stone dressings and brick repairs. The cartshed is timber-framed, with the end bays weatherboarded and a plain tile roof. The ruin consists of a five-bay 16th-century house of considerable size, featuring remains of stone mullion windows. The wall is approximately 3 meters high and extends for about 50 meters, enclosing part of the garden around the Manor House. On the opposite side, there is a seven-bay cartshed supported by timber posts on padstones, with enclosed end bays and a hipped roof. The ruined building is designated as a scheduled Ancient Monument.
