Description

Carrington Farmhouse is a timber-framed house dating to the 16th and 17th centuries, with a 2-bay western section added in 1888. The eastern side exhibits square panel framing with brick infill visible at the rear. The street facade is brick, painted, and features an eaves cornice. The roof is tiled with 'eyebrow' dormers. A large 17th-century chimney stack is also present. The house is 1½ storeys high and has 4 bays with a mix of early 19th-century casement windows and more modern replacements. The roofline of the porch is angled between the two parts of the house.

At the rear of the eastern section is a single-storey, three-windowed wing at a right angle. This wing is constructed of brick on stone foundations and has an asbestos roof, and is likely a former cowshed. The western end of the house is brick, painted, and has a coped gable facing the street. This section features a tiled roof with an eaves band. It is two storeys high with two bays, containing sash windows. The upper windows in the corner bay have a dentil cornice. Other windows are casements.

Carrington Farmhouse is part of a group that includes Carrington Grange, its garden wall and the garden wall to numbers 33 and 35 opposite.
