Description
This building is a barn that was originally a chapel, located 20 meters east of the Manor House at Rockbourne Manor Farm. It dates back to the 13th century, with alterations made in the 17th and 19th centuries. The structure is built from rubble flint and stone, with stone dressings and some brick repairs, topped with a slate roof. It is a four-bay building oriented approximately east-west. The west bay was rebuilt in the 17th century and appears to have been two storeys high. There is a lean-to shed on the south side. The east end was repaired in the 19th century but features a 15th-century quatrefoil in the gable. On the north side, there is a cinquefoiled headed doorway, flanked by pointed lancet windows with a rectangular window above. The walls are gabled. Inside, the roof is likely a 19th-century queen-strut roof. This building is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
