Description

This is an irregular terrace of buildings on the High Street, dating from the 18th century. The exterior is predominantly brick, with a roof that is a combination of tiles and thatch. The terrace comprises 8 to 14 properties, and has two storeys with an attic to number 8. It has a varying number of windows, 1, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1, 2. The roof of numbers 8 and 9 is tiled, while numbers 10 to 14 are thatched, with a catslide to the rear and a late 20th century dormer to the front of number 8.

Number 8 has red brick walling in a Flemish bond pattern, with blue headers, a first-floor band, altered window openings, a plinth, and English bond to the west gable. The rest of the walls are painted brickwork in a Flemish bond pattern, with a rendered ground floor. Windows are mostly sash windows, with casements elsewhere. The original doorways remain, generally plain in style, with a sloping hood supported by small brackets. Number 8 has a flat canopy on carved brackets, number 9 has a wooden doorcase with a pediment, frieze, thin pilasters, architrave and a six-panelled door, and there is a side entrance to number 14 situated in a modernised east gable. Lead fire insurance signs are visible on numbers 13 and 14.
