Description
The barn at Lower Tye Farm, dated 1758, is located on the east side of the farmyard. It features a timber-frame construction with weatherboard cladding set on a brick plinth, which has mostly been rebuilt in the late 20th century. The roof is thatched. The barn has three bays and a rear aisle. On the yard side, there is a tall, central double board cart door, a small glazed opening to the left, and a half-hipped roof. The rear side has a similar opposing cart door with a small glazed opening to the right. There is one small opening on the right return and two on the left return, with one being boarded across. Inside, the barn has jowelled posts that are arch-braced to the arcade plate and tie-beams. The tie-beam to the left of the cart entrance bears the date and initials "R T M". The roof features raking queen strut trusses that clasp through the purlins, along with old rafters.
