Description
The former cowhouse at Hatchwood Farm, dating from the 18th century, is located to the south of the farmhouse. This building features a timber frame with weatherboard cladding and a half-hipped corrugated iron roof, which has been altered to a gabled shape at the right end. It is a single storey structure with a loft and consists of three bays. The front has a central stable door flanked by small windows, and there is a boarded door for the loft hatch on the left side.
Inside, the rear wall is lined with horizontal boarding and has a hayrack attached. The wall-posts are unjowelled and supported by straight braces that extend up to chamfered cross-beams, which hold the loft floor made of overlapped boards. A wall ladder is located at the front right, and the roof structure includes raking queen posts that support purlins and pegged rafters.
