Description
New Cottage and Spindles, dated 1718, features a slightly later extension to the south. This building has two storeys and an attic, with three windows. It is topped with a large red tile roof that slopes down to low eaves at the rear, while the southern part has two lower gables on the sides. The exterior is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with blue headers on the main part. The north gable displays "JP 1718" marked in blue headers at the top. There are first and second floor bands on the north gable, and the ground floor has cambered openings, some of which are blocked early openings. The windows are casements. The door of Spindles has a solid frame, and there is a canopy over New Cottage. Inside, the building is filled with beams and joists, and the layout is unusually divided in both plan and section.
