Description
Nos 20 and 22, also known as the North Block, is a mid-19th century single-storey building that contains three dwelling units. It features three main windows and end wings that have slightly lower eaves, with three doorways, two of which are located in the wings. The roof is covered with red tiles, gabled at the west end and half-hipped at the east end, and there are two Tudor-style chimney stacks.
The main wall is timber-framed in the upper section, with rendered infill, resting on a brick base. The wing walls are constructed of red brick adorned with a blue diaper pattern on the west side. The west gable, which faces the roadway, serves as an ornamental feature. Its upper part showcases close timber-framing with curved bracing in the upper panels. Below the eaves, the red brick walling continues with blue diapers, and a stone plinth band connects to the boundary wall coping.
In the center of the west gable is an unaltered panel with a cusped top, framed by a stone surround that has thin buttresses on the outer edges. The windows are casements, and the doors are plain, set in solid frames, each with a four-pane fanlight above.
