Description

The buildings at 67 to 73 Castle Street consist of several properties dating to the 18th century, with No. 73 being late 18th or early 19th century. Nos. 67 and 69 are constructed of red brick with grey brick dressings, while No. 71 has a painted brick facade. All properties have steeply pitched roofs covered with old tiles, featuring a hipped roof dormer window each. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor of Nos. 67 and 69 have segmental arched doorways with paired, six-panel doors beneath stuccoed lintels, with the top two panels now glazed. No. 71 features a modern door with a hood above. No. 73, which adjoins the terrace of Nos. 67-71, has a roughcast facade with a cornice and parapet, and a hipped roof with modern pantiles. This property is three storeys high and has one window, with a top-floor sash window with glazing bars, while the ground and first floors contain a two-storey shallow canted bay with a cornice and unbarred sashes. A modern recessed entrance is located on the south side. The buildings, along with No. 81 and Nos. 94 to 100, form a group.
