Description
Itchen House is a building dating from around 1840, designed in a Romantic Gothick style. It has two storeys and an irregular plan that features a series of ornamental gables, with both plain and ornamental bargeboards supported by corner convex brackets. The house has wide scalloped eaves and low-pitched slate roofs, which are accented by Tudor grouped stacks on square bases, making them prominent features of the structure. The yellow brickwork is laid in Flemish bond, with a moulded band at the first floor and hood-moulds above the windows. The casements primarily consist of coupled pointed lights set beneath flat arches within hood-moulds. A two-storey projecting porch includes a plaque above its pointed arch, and the entrance is marked by octagonal gate piers.
