Description

Hamblecliffe House is a Gothick house dating to circa 1809. The main front has two and a half storeys with a facade of two, three, and one window bays. A prominent three-storeyed, half-hexagonal tower projects centrally, contributing three window bays. The east side of the house has two windows. The house has a slate roof, generally hipped and concealed by a parapet with coping stones and a band. The walls are stuccoed with quoins, while the projecting tower is in smooth ashlar. The windows are a defining feature, consisting of coupled or triple pointed lights within four-centred openings. Two first-floor windows, one in the tower and one at the rear, have more elaborate tracery. A later Gothic porch and a rear extension have been added.
