Description

This building on Amery Street is likely from the 16th century and has been altered over time. It is a two-story building with an attic, comprising seven bays. The exterior is colour-washed brick with a tiled roof. The ground floor features flush windows. A simple timber door is located in the second bay, while a modern door is situated in the fifth bay, set within a slightly projecting brick surround topped with a moulded stone pediment. A panel above this door states that Edmund Spenser lived here in 1590. A broad band runs across the facade at first-floor level. The first floor has flush windows with glazing bars. The building has a moulded wood eaves cornice with irregular brackets. Three pedimented dormers are visible in the attic, one being larger than the others.
