Description
This is a row of two-storey cottages dating from the 16th or early 17th century, located on London Road in Holybourne. It appears the row was originally two cottages, later subdivided into three units and then two. The buildings are constructed with square timber framing and curved braces to the upper level, with painted brick infill between the timbers. They have clay-tile roofs with hipped ends. Numbers 151 and 153 are slightly lower than the others and project further forward. Outbuildings are located to the rear. The windows are a mix of varying casements, mostly 20th century in date, along with two 20th-century rectangular bay windows with small panes to the ground floor of number 145. The doors also vary in date. The interiors have not been inspected. These cottages are of special interest as a good and largely complete example of 16th-17th century timber-framed buildings, and contribute to the group value of listed buildings along London Road.
