Shop, formerly shop and houses, incorporates 2 bays of an early C17 timber framed lobby entrance house (numbers 28 and 30) and an C18 structure (number 26), but the whole was refronted and reroofed c. 1830-40, with large C20 extension to rear not of special interest. Front stuccoed with slate roof side elevation painted brick. 2 storeys, 4 windows. 4 x 12 pane sashes in moulded architroves to 1st floor. Ground floor has to number 26 a C19 shop front with deep fascia to left side and C20 doors to right side. Numbers 26 and 28 have 1 curved bay each and plain doorcases in moulded surrounds. Rear elevation is brick to ground floor and stuccoed to 1st floor casement windows. No 28 has to ground floor a C17 2 inch chamfered beam with lambs tongue stop. Number 26 has an C18 ceiling beam with 1 inch chamfers with run out stops. 1st floor to numbers 28 to 30 have deep tie beams and spine beams with lambs tongue stops. 2 x 4 plank early C19 doors. Square framing having jowled posts. Roof heightened in early C19 and rafters now quartered softwood poles but early Cl7 roof timbers survive including principal rafters reducing above collar and formerly clasping through purlins; verti- cal members up to collars; and close studding to left-hand truss. No 30 has an early C19 fireplace with iron basket grate with reeded surround.
