Description
The ruins of the Chapel of the Holy Ghost date from the 13th and 15th centuries and were once associated with the Holy Ghost Guild. The remaining structure includes the lower part of the west wall and short sections of flanking walls, all made of flint with some stone dressings still visible. There are later red brick diagonal copper buttresses added to the structure. The west window features a painted arch with signs of tracery, and below it is the west door from the 15th century, which has a moulded arch. Inside the ruins, there is a tomb slab with a weathered part-figure in stone. To the east, where the former chancel was located, lies another tomb slab featuring the weathered stone figure of a cross-legged knight. The site is designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
