Description
Hill House Farmhouse is a building that dates from the 16th, 17th, and 20th centuries. It consists of three parts, with the tallest and largest section being from the mid-17th century. This part has two storeys and an attic, featuring a red tile roof that is hipped to the south and half-hipped to the north. A large chimney stack is located on the east side, with shafted flues. The north wall is constructed of English bond brickwork and includes a second-floor band with cornice mouldings above dentils, as well as a first-floor band with a base moulding that is broken in the centre.
To the east, there is an older, lower block that has a brick and tile exterior concealing a partially-surviving timber frame, along with a chimney stack on the east side. Inside this section, there are two Tudor fireplaces with plastered mouldings. The more recent west block is built in a similar style and uses the same materials as the east block. The windows are casements, and there is an old solid doorframe. Inside the farmhouse, notable features include main beams that are panelled on the underside, a timber-framed cross wall, and much of the original flooring remains intact.
