Description
Moat Cottage is a small cottage dating from the early to late 17th century, with some 18th-century elements. It features a timber frame consisting of two bays and has a large tapered chimney stack on the north gable. There is a small brick addition to the south. The cottage is one storey with an attic and has irregularly placed windows. The roof is tiled and has a half-hip at the south end, along with two hipped dormers that have cills at eaves level. The brickwork is laid in English bond, with some sections painted and others plastered, and there is a plinth. The upper part of the south gable reveals exposed timber framing. The windows include two old 18th-century leaded lights, and there is a boarded door set in a solid frame, accompanied by a modern open porch. The cottage is situated within the ditches of a medieval moated farmstead.
